New Arsenal signing sets out plans to improve ahead of West Ham clash
Sokratis admits that it is taking him and his Arsenal team-mates time to get used to life under Unai Emery
Sokratis has admitted that it is taking him and his Arsenal team-mates some time to get used to life under new manager Unai Emery at The Emirates.
The Gunners slumped to their second successive Premier League defeat on Saturday evening when they lost 3-2 to Chelsea FC at Stamford Bridge.
That defeat followed their 2-0 loss to Manchester City on the opening weekend of the new campaign as Emery looks to stamp his authority on the squad at The Emirates.
Emery has been tasked with steering Arsenal back into the top four this season after his appointment as Arsene Wenger’s successor at The Emirates back in May.
Sokratis is one of the players Emery opted to bring in this summer to bolster his options at the back ahead of his first campaign at the club.
And the defender has admitted that it is taking him and his team-mates some time to gel under the new manager.
Speaking in an interview with Arsenal’s website, Sokratis said: “Of course [it’s taking time to gel].
“It’s difficult because we’ve changed a lot of things. We need to improve our work, how we defend, how we attack.
“We have to score from the chances we create and we have to look at taking those points into our next game.”
Arsenal will be aiming to pick up their first Premier League points of the season on Saturday when they host West Ham United at The Emirates.
The north London side finished in sixth place and without a trophy last season under Wenger.
