Ian Wright desperate to see 27-year-old Arsenal star sign new contract
The Arsenal legend doesn't blame Aaron Ramsey for waiting to sign a new Gunners contract
Ian Wright is hoping that Arsenal star Aaron Ramsey will put pen to paper on a new deal at the north London side.
The Gunners star has less than 12 months to run on his current deal with the possibility of Ramsey leaving for nothing at the end of the season.
Ramsey has been linked with a potential move to Chelsea FC or Liverpool FC over the past few months of the summer transfer window.
The 27-year-old was left out of the Arsenal team for their 3-2 loss to Chelsea FC at Stamford Bridge earlier this month.
The Wales international was restored to Unai Emery’s starting line up for the visit of winless West Ham United at The Emirates on Saturday evening.
Goals from Nacho Monreal and Danny Welbeck helped to seal three points as well as Issa Diop’ own goal.
Former Arsenal striker Wright believes the Gunners need to keep Ramsey at the north London side.
“I am desperate for Ramsey to sign. Why should he?” Wright told Sky Sports’ The Debate.
“His agents saw Ozil. He strung it out. He wasn’t pulling up trees for Arsenal but got exactly what he wanted. Why shouldn’t he do the same?”
Arsenal finished in sixth spot in the Premier League table last term to miss out on a spot in the Champions League.
The Gunners haven’t won the Premier League title since Arsene Wenger led the north London side to a famous unbeaten season.
