Ashley Cole makes prediction about Arsenal this season
Ashley Cole has his say on Arsenal's start to life under new manager Unai Emery
Ashley Cole believes that it’s going to take some time for Unai Emery to implement his philosophy at Arsenal.
The Spaniard is getting used to life in the hot-seat at The Emirates after he was appointed as the club’s new manager following Arsene Wenger’s exit at the end of last season.
The Gunners have endured a tricky start to the new campaign, with Arsenal having slipped to back to back defeats by Manchester City and Chelsea FC in their opening games of the season.
Arsenal will be looking to pick up their first Premier League points of the new season when they host West Ham United at The Emirates on Saturday lunchtime.
And former Arsenal and Chelsea FC left-back believes that it’s going to take time for Emery to have a positive impact at The Emirates.
Speaking in an interview with ESPN FC, Cole said: “I used to watch the games with [Wenger] in the long jacket and you don’t see that no more.
“But times change, people move on, and I think it was his time to go. And obviously they’ve brought in a new manager with new ideas and a new philosophy.
“With Arsenal, there’s a new manager still, but I think the first two games they had were very, very difficult, so I think they’ll start picking up points now.
“I think it might take a little bit of time, he has to gel the players together, he’s got a few new players. To put his philosophy across and how he wants to play, I don’t think it’s going to happen straight away.”
Arsenal have not won the Premier League title since their famous unbeaten triumph in the 2003-04 campaign.
The Gunners ended up in sixth place in the Premier League table last season and without a trophy in Wenger’s final campaign in charge of the north London club.
