Paul Merson is tipping Manchester United to ease to a narrow win over Brighton and Hove Albion in the Premier League on Sunday.

The Red Devils will be looking to record successive Premier League victories to keep pace with Liverpool FC, Chelsea FC and Manchester City.

Manchester United were 2-1 winners against Leicester City at Old Trafford last week following goals from Paul Pogba and Luke Shaw.

Stand-in captain Pogba broke the deadlock from the spot before England international Shaw sealed three points for the hosts.

Brighton, on the other hand, lost 2-0 to Watford in the Premier League to make a disappointing start to their Premier League campaign.

Manchester United lost 1-0 to Brighton at the Amex Stadium back in May following Pascal Gross’ first-half winner.

Former Arsenal star Merson believes Manchester United will edge to close fought win over the Seagulls in the Premier League on Sunday evening.

“Brighton were probably the most disappointing team of the opening weekend if you look at the result and the way they played. But they lift their game against teams like Man United,” Merson told Sky Sports.

“This is a difficult game but, if they go out to win, I’ll go for United.”

Manchester United finished in second place in the Premier League table last term but the Red Devils ended up 19 points adrift of champions Manchester City.

The Red Devils finished above Tottenham Hotspur, Liverpool FC, Chelsea FC and Arsenal in the Premier League table but ended the campaign without a trophy.
