Maurizio Sarri sends Chelsea FC challenge to Alvaro Morata
The Chelsea FC manager wants to see more from Spanish striker Alvaro Morata
Maurizio Sarri believes Alvaro Morata can make further improvements after the Spanish striker scored in Chelsea FC’s 3-2 win over Arsenal on Saturday evening.
The Spain international failed to get on the score sheet in a disappointing performance in Chelsea FC’s 3-0 victory over Huddersfield Town in their season opener.
Morata retained his place in Sarri’s starting XI for the visit of bitter rivals Arsenal on Saturday evening in a clear vote of confidence from the new Blues manager.
The 26-year-old repaid the Italian head coach’s faith with Chelsea FC’s second goal in a 3-2 victory over Arsenal at Stamford Bridge at the weekend.
Morata struggled to perform in his first season at Chelsea FC following a club record move to the west London side from La Liga side Real Madrid in the 2017 summer transfer window.
The former Juventus striker is no longer Chelsea FC’s most expensive following the arrival of Kepa from Atheltic Bilbao, while Morata has also changed his shirt number.
Speaking at his post-match media conference about Morata’s first goal of the Premier League season, Chelsea FC boss Sarri said:
“It’s very important for him. I am really very happy with him, but I think also Morata can do better in the future. He has to improve.”
Chelsea FC will make the trip to Newcastle United in their next Premier League fixture at St James’ Park on Saturday.
