Pat Nevin raves about ‘unstoppable’ Chelsea FC star
The Chelsea FC legend lavishes praise on Eden Hazard for his impact in their derby win on Saturday evening
Pat Nevin has praised Eden Hazard’s impact from the bench in Chelsea FC’s 3-2 win against Arsenal at Stamford Bridge on Saturday evening.
The Belgium international has started both of their Premier League games on the bench following his participation in the World Cup this summer.
Hazard came off the bench after Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Alex Iwobi cancelled out first-half goals from Pedro Rodriguez and Alvaro Morata in west London.
The 27-year-old provided the cross that led to Marcos Alonso’s winner in the 81st minute to secure successive Premier League victories under Maurizio Sarri.
Hazard missed out on a potential move to La Liga giants Real Madrid in the summer despite being heavily linked with a switch to los Blancos.
The Chelsea FC winger will be hoping to start his first Premier League fixture of the new season when the Blues make the trip to Newcastle United this weekend.
Former Blues star Nevin was impressed with Hazard’s ability to create chances following his introduction in the second half.
“Have Chelsea ever had a better creative attacker than Eden Hazard when our Belgian star is on his game?” Nevin told Chelsea FC’s website.
“Once again he came on and was basically unstoppable. Look further afield and City have Sergio Aguero, one of the best strikers ever to grace these shores with an abundance of great players setting him up.
“You leave them man-to-man with just about any defender and the outcome is bordering on a foregone conclusion.”
Chelsea FC finished in fifth place in the Premier League table last season to condemn the Blues to Europa League football.
The west London side won the Premier League title in 2015 and 2017.
