Maurizio Sarri warned Chelsea FC signing will provide selection headache
Pat Nevin is unsure how Maurizio Sarri will accommodate N'Golo Kante and Jorginho in the Chelsea FC team
Pat Nevin says Maurizio Sarri is facing a selection headache as the new Chelsea FC boss looks to accommodate both Jorginho and N’Golo Kante.
The Blues signed the Italy international in a £57m deal from Serie A runners up Napoli to add more depth to their midfield options.
Chelsea FC lost 2-0 to Manchester City in the Community Shield and Jorginho struggled to leave his mark on the game.
The Italian midfielder will be expecting to start alongside Kante despite both players preferring a holding midfield role.
Sarri has been known for playing a 4-3-3 during his successful stint in charge of Italian giants Napoli.
However, one of Kante and Jorginho will have to play in a wider role if Sarri sticks with his preferred formation.
Former Blues winger Nevin suggested Sarri could have a selection headache in the middle of the park.
“He is lovely passing player,” Nevin told Newstalk. “He moves the ball nicely.
“He got caught time and again against Man City at Wembley. He has to find a place for Jorginho.
“He is a centre midfielder but you don’t leave out Kante.”
The Blues were 3-0 winners against Huddersfield Town on Saturday.
Chelsea FC finished in fifth place in the Premier League table last term after he missed out on a spot in the Champions League.
The Blues were 1-0 winners against Manchester United to end Antonio Conte’s reign with a trophy.
