The Chelsea FC star sends message to Maurizio Sarri after his first Premier League appearance of the season
Ross Barkley is determined to remain in Maurizio Sarri’s thought process after the Chelsea FC star’s impressive start to the new Premier League season.
The England international was included in Sarri’s starting XI for their Premier League opener at Huddersfield Town on Saturday afternoon.
Barkley lasted 68 minutes of their Premier League clash before England international Ruben Loftus-Cheek came off the bench to replace the former Everton star.
The 24-year-old finished with 89 per cent pass completion in a promising performance following a slow start to his Chelsea FC career.
The Blues signed Barkley in a cut price £15m deal from Everton in the January transfer window but he has spent the majority of his Blues spell so far on the sidelines.
Speaking to Chelsea FC’s website about his first appearance of the new Premier League season, Barkley said:
“That depends on how I perform and hopefully I showed I can start and stay in his thoughts.
“There’s a lot of competition at top sides like us so my focus is just to do what I can on the pitch and help the team win games.”
Barkley is still waiting to score his first Chelsea FC goal having made six appearances for the west London outfit so far.
The England playmaker netted 27 times in 197 games in all competitions for Everton duringseven and a half seasons at Goodison Park.
The Blues will welcome bitter rivals Arsenal to Stamford Bridge in their next Premier League fixture on Saturday evening.
