Ashley Cole rates Chelsea FC’s title chances this season
Ashley Cole doesn't believe that Chelsea FC will be one of the main teams challenging for the title this term
Ashley Cole doesn’t believe that Chelsea FC will be one of the main teams fighting for the Premier League title this season.
The Blues are currently getting used to life under new manager Maurizio Sarri after his appointment as the club’s new boss last month.
The west London side have made a solid start to the new campaign, with the Blues having won both of their opening Premier League games.
Chelsea FC sealed a thrilling 3-2 win over Arsenal in the Premier League at Stamford Bridge on Saturday evening as they took six points from their opening two games.
Sarri has been tasked with steering the west London side back into the top four this season at the very least after the Blues ended up in fifth place and won the FA Cup title last term.
And former Chelsea FC defender Cole admits that the west London side are unlikely to be one of the main contenders for the Premier League title this term.
Speaking in an interview with ESPN FC, Cole said: “Chelsea have gone about their business a little bit quiet in terms of having a new manager.
“They should be fighting for the title, but I don’t think people are [thinking that way] at the minute. To get six points from two games, it’s a fantastic start. They’ve just got to keep going.”
Chelsea FC will return to Premier League action on Sunday when they take on Newcastle United at St James’ Park as they look to try and keep their spot towards the top of the table.
