Cesar Azpilicueta opens up on life under Maurizio Sarri at Chelsea FC
Cesar Azpilicueta admits that he and his Chelsea FC players have had to step up their work since Maurizio Sarri's appointment
Cesar Azpilicueta has admitted that he and his Chelsea FC players have had to step up their work-rate since Maurizio Sarri’s appointment at the club.
The Italian manager is getting ready for his first season in charge at Stamford Bridge after having been appointed as Antonio Conte’s successor at the west London club last month.
Chelsea FC lost their first competitive game under Sarri last weekend when they slumped to a disappointing 2-0 defeat by Manchester City in the Community Shield at Wembley.
The Blues are now preparing for their Premier League opener against Huddersfield Town on Saturday afternoon as they look to get their campaign off to a positive start.
And Azpilicueta has lifted the lid on what life is like under Sarri following his appointment at Stamford Bridge last month.
Speaking to Chelsea FC’s website, Azpilicueta said: “Well, what I can say is that from the first day we are working hard and we are working as a team.
“He knows what he wants and he explains it to us. We have to replicate what he wants and the only way is to keep working in every training session, every game, to try to reach that.”
Chelsea FC will be looking to bring in some more new signings before the transfer window closes on Thursday afternoon.
The west London side have so far only signed Rob Green and Jorginho as Sarri prepares for his first season in charge at the Premier League outfit.
Chelsea FC finished fifth in the table and won the FA Cup in Conte’s final campaign last month.
