David Luiz: What I really think about Maurizio Sarri at Chelsea FC
David Luiz says he is enjoying getting used to life under Maurizio Sarri at Chelsea FC
David Luiz has been happy with the start to life he has made under Maurizio Sarri at Chelsea FC.
The Brazilian defender has been getting used to working under the Italian manager after he was brought in as Antonio Conte’s successor at Stamford Bridge last month.
Sarri has been tasked with at least steering Chelsea FC back into the top four this season after the Blues missed out on Champions League qualification last term.
Luiz struggled to hold down a regular spot in the first team under Conte last season but he will be hoping to play a key role for the Blues under new boss Sarri.
And the defender has admitted that he has been enjoying getting used to life under the new manager at Stamford Bridge.
Speaking in an interview with Sky Sports, Luiz said: “The ambition has to be to win every single match, every single competition.
“This is Chelsea – we can’t think in a different way – but we also have to have humility to understand we’re at the beginning of a new philosophy, so we start day-by-day every single week.
“I think every coach comes with new stuff and can improve and help us and of course Sarri are already taught me many things I never saw before. It’s great to understand football – it never stops – since I started playing football I always learn from every coach, it’s great.
“He just gives to you [the public] five per cent of the idea, he’s not going to give you 100 per cent of the idea, one of the parts of the idea is to focus on the ball and different parts of the pitch, you have to understand the movement.”
Chelsea FC will have to make do with a spot in the Europa League this season after they finished in fifth place in the table last term under Conte.
The Blues will be aiming to at least finish in the top four and secure Champions League qualification in Sarri’s first season at the club.
