The Croatia midfielder is currently settling into life at Stamford Bridge after having joined the Blues on loan from Real Madrid last week.
Kovacic moved to Stamford Bridge as part of the same deal which saw Thibaut Courtois complete his transfer to Real Madrid on a permanent basis.
The 24-year-old will now be hoping to impress new manager Maurizio Sarri at Stamford Bridge as he bids to try and earn a regular spot in the first team this season.
Morata and Kovacic know each other well from their times at Real Madrid together, and the Spanish striker is hoping to be able to quickly rekindle their understanding on the pitch for Sarri’s side this term.
Speaking in an interview with Chelsea FC’s website, Morata said: “Yes, he gave me a lot of assists in Madrid.
“We enjoy playing together and I’m very happy to have him here. I think he’s one of the best midfielders in the world.
“I always try to help the new signings settle in, I remember when I first came here my team-mates helped me, and now it’s time for me to do the same.”
Chelsea FC will be aiming to challenge for the Premier League title this season after they finished in fifth place and won the FA Cup under Antonio Conte last term.
The Blues moved to bring in Sarri after opting to sack Conte following their disappointing Premier League form last term.
