Jordan Pickford would be a goalkeeper perfectly suited to Maurizio Sarri’s style of play at Chelsea FC, according to Adam Bate.

The Blues are thought to be on the lookout for a new shot-stopper this summer amid the constant uncertainty surrounding Thibaut Courtois’ future at Stamford Bridge.

Courtois has one year left on his current deal with the Blues and has thus far not indicated that he is prepared to sign a new deal with the west London side.

Chelsea FC are likely to want to cash in on Courtois this summer rather than risk losing the Belgian on a free transfer next year.

England star Pickford has been touted as a possible target for the west London club as they look to try and bolster their squad before the close of the transfer window on Thursday.

And Sky Sports reporter Bate feels that Pickford would be well-suited to Chelsea FC’s style of play under new boss Sarri.

Speaking on the Sky Sports Transfer Talk podcast, Bate said: “You can see why Chelsea want Pickford.

“Sarri likes his goalkeepers to pass out from the back. That is not a strengthen for Jack Butland or Kasper Schmeichel really.”

Chelsea FC will be aiming to be one of the main contenders for the Premier League title next season as they look to try and build a squad capable of at least breaking back into the top four.
