Antonio Rudiger reacts to new Chelsea FC signing’s debut
Antonio Rudiger praises Kepa Arrizabalaga for his display in Chelsea FC's 3-0 win at Huddersfield
Antonio Rudiger praised Kepa Arrizabalaga for his solid performance as he kept a clean sheet in his Chelsea FC debut against Huddersfield Town on Saturday.
The goalkeeper has been settling into life at Stamford Bridge after having signed for the west London club from Athletic Bilbao last week following Thibaut Courtois’ move to Real Madrid.
Kepa made his first Premier League appearance for the Blues as he helped to keep Huddersfield Town at bay as the west London side sealed a 3-0 win in their first top flight game under new boss Maurizio Sarri.
And Rudiger feels that Kepa did especially well in communicating with his defenders as the Blues made a positive start to the new season under their manager Sarri.
Rudiger is quoted as saying by Metro: “He did well. He tried to speak as much as he could. It was good, we have a good understanding and he is a quality player.
“He did well with [communication]. When we needed to help him, we helped him.
“Today in general for us was a very good day. We all know Thibaut’s [Courtois] quality, but Thibaut is no longer a Chelsea player.
“I wish him good luck at Real Madrid but now we have to concentrate on Kepa because he is our goalkeeper.
“In his work he is very confident and off the pitch he is a quiet guy.”
Chelsea FC finished in fifth place in the Premier League table under Antonio Conte last season as they also won the FA Cup in the Italian’s final campaign in charge.
The west London side will be aiming to be one of the main challengers for the title this season as Sarri looks to at least steer the Blues back into the top four.
