Maurizio Sarri gives the latest update on Eden Hazard’s Chelsea FC future
Maurizio Sarri is convinced that Eden Hazard will stay at Chelsea FC for this season
Maurizio Sarri has underlined his belief that Eden Hazard will stay at Chelsea FC for this season.
The Belgian playmaker’s future has been a relentless source of speculation in recent months as he entered into the final two years of his contract at Stamford Bridge.
Hazard’s current deal with the west London club is set to expire in 2020 and Chelsea FC know that they could end up losing him for a cut-price fee next summer.
The 27-year-old has long been linked with a move to Real Madrid, and he watched his Belgian team-mate Thibaut Courtois seal his move to the Bernabeu this summer.
Hazard could still potentially seal a move away from Chelsea FC before the transfer window closes in Europe next week, but Blues boss Sarri is hopeful that the playmaker will stay at the club for the rest of the campaign.
Speaking at his pre-match news conference at Cobham on Friday, Sarri said: “I think so [Hazard will stay].
“Because I’m the coach of a very good team, a great club, and we cannot sell such an important player without the possibility of buying another player at the same level, so I hope Eden will stay for this season.”
Hazard will be expecting to feature for Chelsea FC when the Blues take on Newcastle United in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.
The west London side have won both of their opening Premier League games of the season this term.
