Maurizio Sarri opens up about Ruben Loftus-Cheek at Chelsea FC
Maurizio Sarri admits that Ruben Loftus-Cheek could end up leaving Chelsea FC in the January transfer window
Maurizio Sarri has admitted that Ruben Loftus-Cheek could end up leaving Chelsea FC in the January transfer window.
The England star’s future has been something of a source of speculation in recent days as he looks to nail down a regular spot in the first team at Stamford Bridge under Sarri.
Loftus-Cheek impressed during his loan spell at Crystal Palace last season and was called up to the England squad for this summer’s World Cup in Russia.
He has been linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge due to the increased competition for places in the starting line-up at Chelsea FC.
Sarri now feels sure that Loftus-Cheek will stay at Chelsea FC for the first part of the season at least, but he admits that the Blues could reconsider the situation in January.
Speaking at his pre-match news conference on Friday, Sarri said: “I’ve spoken with him twice this week after I spoke to the club, I think Loftus will remain with us, we can speak again about his situation but only in December.”
Sarri is currently preparing his Chelsea FC team for their clash against Newcastle United in the Premier League on Sunday.
The Blues are looking to challenge for the Premier League title this season after they ended up in fifth place in the table and won the FA Cup under Antonio Conte last term.
