Chelsea FC are leading the race to sign Wilfried Zaha from Crystal Palace this summer after Tottenham Hotspur pulled out of the running, according to reports in the British media.

The Daily Mirror is reporting that Chelsea FC now have a “clear run” at signing the 25-year-old Ivory Coast international after Spurs opted not to pursue their interest in the attacker.

Chelsea FC are still thought to be on the lookout for a number of new signings this summer as they look to try and build a squad capable of winning the title next season.

According to the same story, Spurs were keen on a move to bring Zaha to White Hart Lane this summer but their hopes of signing him were ended by Palace’s huge £75m valuation of the attacker.

Now, it is being claimed in the same article that Saha himself is keen to push through a move to Chelsea FC before the transfer window closes on Thursday afternoon.

Maurizio Sarri is looking to further bolster his squad at Stamford Bridge as the Italian boss prepares for his first season in charge of the west London club.

Chelsea FC were beaten 2-0 by Manchester City in the Community Shield at Wembley in the annual season curtain raiser in what was Sarri’s first competitive game in charge of the west London side.
