Sky Sports News reporter: Chelsea FC unlikely to sign 24-year-old England star
Chelsea FC will find it hard to sign Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford, according to Sky Sports News reporter Dharmesh Sheth
Everton are not in the mood to sell England goalkeeper Jordan Pickford to Chelsea FC, according to Sky Sports News reporter Dharmesh Sheth.
The Blues are thought to be interested in a deal to sign the 24-year-old shot stopper given Real Madrid’s apparent interest in Chelsea FC number one Thibaut Courtois.
Pickford was a big hit for England during the World Cup after the shot stopper helped Gareth Southgate’s side to reach the semi-finals in Russia in the summer.
The 24-year-old former Sunderland goalkeeper became a penalty shootout hero after Pickford made a key save to help England beat Colombia in dramatic circumstances in the round of 16.
Everton are preparing for a new era under new manager Marco Silva and reports suggest that the Toffees would be reluctant to lose Pickford in the summer transfer window.
Sky Sports News reporter Sheth provided an update on Chelsea FC’s pursuit of Pickford this summer.
“We are told the England number one is Chelsea’s number one target,” Sheth told the Sky Sports Transfer Talk podcast.
“We are told Everton are not in the mood to sell him. We are talking of upwards of £80m for Maguire so how much would Pickford be worth?”
Chelsea FC signed Courtois from Belgian side Genk under Andre Villas-Boas in 2011.
The Blues loaned out Courtois to Atletico for three seasons to allow the Belgian to get vital experience.
The 26-year-old won the La Liga title, the Copa del Rey and the Europa League under Diego Simeone in Madrid.
