Chelsea FC end interest in 24-year-old England star – report
Chelsea FC don't expect to sign Jordan Pickford in a summer deal from Everton, according to a report
Chelsea FC don’t expect to sign England and Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford to replace Thibaut Courtois this summer, according to a report in England.
The Daily Star is reporting that the Blues were keen to sign Pickford as a possible replacement for Real Madrid target Courtois in the 2018 summer transfer window.
The same article states that Pickford was one of the west London side’s top targets to take over the reins from the Belgium international in the new Premier League season.
According to the same story, Everton are set to open new contract talks with Pickford to ensure the England number one remains at Goodison Park after his £30m move to the Toffees from Sunderland last summer.
The Daily Star goes on to list Paris St-Germain’s German keeper Kevin Trapp and Atletico Madrid’s Jan Oblak as two potential replacements for Courtois, although the Slovenian would command a huge transfer fee.
Chelsea FC finished in fifth place in the Premier League table last season to miss out on a spot in the Champions League for the second time in three seasons.
The Blues were 1-0 winners against Manchester United in the FA Cup final at Wembley last season thanks to Eden Hazard’s winner.
