The Blues signed the Italy international in a £57m deal from Serie A runners up Napoli in the 2018 summer transfer window.
Jorginho established himself as one of the top holding midfielders during his spell at Napoli under Maurizio Sarri.
Kante won Premier League titles in successive seasons at Leicester City and Chelsea FC as the France star thrived in a defensive midfield role.
However, the World Cup winner was given a more attacking role in the Chelsea FC team for their trip to Huddersfield Town last weekend.
Sarri’s tactical switch paid dividends after Kante broke the deadlock in a 3-0 win at John Smith’s Stadium thanks to a late burst into the box.
Former Chelsea striker Sutton believes Kante can thrive in a more advanced role in the Premier League this season.
“Kante’s playing a slightly different role,” Sutton said on BBC Radio 5 Live.
“Jorginho’s playing as the holding midfielder, quarter-back if you like.
“Kante has been released further forward, he even scored at the weekend.
“But actually, I think that suits him in terms of if you want to play a pressing game at a high intensity, who is better at that than Kante?
“I think that’s a masterstroke.
“Jorginho topped all the passing stats in the top-five European leagues last season.
“I think he’s got better quality on the ball than Kante.”
Sarri took over the reins from Antonio Conte at Chelsea FC in the summer following the Blues’ disappointing fifth-placed finish.
Chelsea FC signed Athletic Bilbao goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga, Real Madrid midfielder Mateo Kovacic and veteran English goalkeeper Rob Green in the summer transfer window.
