Jamie Redknapp states his prediction for Crystal Palace v Liverpool FC
The Liverpool FC legend believes the Reds will secure a narrow win over Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park
Jamie Redknapp believes Liverpool FC will edge to victory over Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on Monday night.
The Reds finished in fourth spot in the Premier League table last term to ensure their continued participation in the Champions League.
Liverpool FC signed AS Monaco star Fabinho in a £39m deal before RB Leipzig midfielder Naby Keita in a £48m deal to bolster their midfield.
The Merseyside outfit have also snapped up Xherdan Shaqiri in a £13.5m deal from relegated Stoke City to add more variety to their attack.
Jurgen Klopp tackled a key weakness in his squad with the addition of Brazil international Alisson Becker in a £67m switch from AS Roma.
Liverpool FC made a positive start to the season thanks to a 4-0 win over West Ham United at Anfield thanks to goals from Mo Salah, Sadio Mane and Daniel Sturridge.
Palace, meanwhile, were 2-0 winners against promoted side Fulham at Craven Cottage.
Former Liverpool FC star Redknapp is backing Liverpool FC to edge to victory over Palace in the Premier League on Monday night.
“They go to Crystal Palace on Monday night and Liverpool at Selhurst Park inevitably brings back memories of when it unravelled for them in 2014,” Redknapp told Sky Sports.
“It’s never an easy game there and, with Wilfried Zaha fresh from scoring against Fulham and signing a new deal, he will be a real handful. He’s a special talent – Palace’s remarkable record last season with and without him underlined that.
“They’ve got a good squad and Roy Hodgson has done well there, so it won’t be easy for Liverpool. I think they’ll get across the line, though – and that’s just the kind of win they’ll need if they are to challenge City this season.”
Liverpool FC lost 3-1 to La Liga leaders Real Madrid in the Champions League final back in May to miss out on a first trophy under Klopp.
