Jamie Redknapp has shed light on Jurgen Klopp’s enthusiasm for Naby Keita’s debut in Liverpool FC’s 4-0 win against West Ham United at Anfield on Sunday.

The Reds signed Keita in a £48m deal from Bundesliga outfit RB Leipzig at the start of July after the two clubs agreed a transfer fee last summer.

Liverpool FC handed the Guinea international the number eight shirt after Keita put pen to paper on a lucrative contract at Anfield.

Klopp handed Keita his debut in Liverpool FC’s 4-0 win over West Ham at Anfield after the box-to-box midfielder played a big role in Mohamed Salah’s opening goal.

The summer signing earned rave reviews for his performance against the Hammers given his ability to create space in the middle of the park and find the perfect pass.

Former Liverpool FC captain Redknapp lifted the lid on his conversation with Klopp about Keita’s debut performance following a vital opening weekend Premier League win.

“When I spoke to Jurgen Klopp after the game, his eyes lit up at every mention of his new midfielder,” Redknapp told the Daily Mail.

“He clearly rates him incredibly highly and knows just how important he can be in taking Liverpool to the next level.”

Liverpool FC are sitting at the top of the Premier League table on goal difference thanks to a their landslide victory over Manuel Pellegrini’s outfit.

The Reds will make the trip to Crystal Palace in their next Premier League game on Monday night.
