James Milner sends warning to Liverpool FC’s title rivals
The Liverpool FC star believes the Reds can beat anyone in the Premier League this season
James Milner has warned Liverpool FC’s title rivals that Jurgen Klopp’s side are confident of beating any Premier League opponent this season.
The Reds were very active in the 2018 summer transfer window to fuel talk of a potential title challenge under Klopp in the current campaign.
Liverpool FC signed AS Monaco star Fabinho in a £39m deal to improve Klopp’s options in defensive midfielder.
The Merseyside outfit have further bolstered their options in the middle of the park following the signing of Naby Keita in a £48m switch from RB Leipzig.
Klopp won the race to sign talented Switzerland international Xherdan Shaqiri in a cut price £13.5m deal from relegated Stoke City to add more variety to his attack.
Liverpool FC finally addressed their weakness in goal after the Reds signed Brazil number one Alisson Becker in a £67m switch from Serie A giants AS Roma back in July.
Speaking to talkSPORT about Liverpool FC’s title ambitions this season, Milner said:
“That’s for other people to talk about. You guys (media) are going to discuss it, we just want to start the season well and keep improving as a squad and see where that takes us.
“Obviously it is early days and the first game of the season you want to get off to a good start, it is very important.
“It is never easy coming out of pre-season when you have players returning at different times due to the World Cup but you just want to get off to a good start and get a win.”
Liverpool FC finished in fourth sport in the Premier League table last term to ensure their continued participation in the Champions League for another season.
The Reds haven’t won the Premier League title but finished in second place in the 2002, 2009 and 2014.
