Stand-in captain James Milner broke the deadlock from the penalty in added time at the end of the first half.
Liverpool FC centre-halves Joe Gomez and Virgil van Dijk impressed at the back to keep Christian Benteke under wraps in the English capital.
Palace were reduced to 10 men when Salah was brought down by the last defender with only Welsh goalkeeper Wayne Hennessey to beat.
Sadio Mane finished a super counter attack on the stroke of full-time to secure three points against Palace.
Former Liverpool FC defender Carragher lavished praise on the Merseyside outfit.
“The really good thing about Liverpool FC’s performance was in the first half we saw really good control,” Carragher told Sky Sports.
“They weren’t creating a lot of chances. As soon as it goes 1-0 up, you knew Palace would put them under pressure. Liverpool were outstanding.”
Liverpool FC are in second place in the Premier League table and behind defending champions Manchester City on goal difference.
The Reds signed Fabinho, Naby Keita, Xherdan Shaqiri and Alisson Becker in the summer transfer window.
