Robbie Savage believes Alisson Becker and Virgil van Dijk can help Liverpool FC to challenge for the Premier League title.

The Reds recorded their third successive Premier League game thanks to a 1-0 victory over Brighton and Hove Albion to hoist themselves to the top of the table.

Liverpool FC have managed to keep three successive clean sheets to underline their impressive improvements at the back under Jurgen Klopp in the current campaign.

The Reds made Virgil van Dijk the most expensive defender in the world in the January transfer window before Liverpool FC spent £67m on AS Roma goalkeeper Alisson Becker.

The Merseyside outfit were 4-0 winners against West Ham United at Anfield in their Premier League opener before Liverpool FC were 2-0 winners at Crystal Palace earlier this month.

Liverpool FC edged to a 1-0 winner over Brighton at Anfield on Saturday evening after Mohamed Salah break the deadlock ion the first half on Merseyside.

Former Leicester star Savage believes Liverpool FC are in a strong position to push Manchester City in the title race.

“I think Liverpool can stay there,” Savage told BBC Radio Five Live.

“Van Dijk is world class. Alisson had a great game. It is Man City or Liverpool.”

Liverpool FC finished in fourth place in the Premier League table to secure Champions League football for the second successive season.
