The Reds will be looking to launch their first sustained title challenge since the 2013-14 season when Brendan Rodgers’ men were on the brink of a first Premier League crown.
Jurgen Klopp led Liverpool FC to successive top-four finishes for the first time since Rafael Benitez left the Anfield outfit to underline their progress under the German head coach.
However, the former Borussia Dortmund manager is under pressure to win the title after Klopp promised major silverware within three years of his reign at Anfield.
Liverpool FC have invested significantly in their squad in the summer transfer window ahead of a potential title push in the 2018-19 Premier League season.
The Reds signed AS Monaco midfielder Fabinho, RB Leipzig star Naby Keita, Stoke City playmaker Xherdan Shaqiri and AS Roma goalkeeper Alisson Becker in the summer transfer window.
Liverpool FC will be hoping the four new arrivals will be sufficient to reduce the 25 points deficit between themselves and Manchester City in the new season.
Former Reds striker Owen believes Liverpool FC will be Manchester City’s biggest rivals over the course of the campaign.
“I am convinced that Jurgen Klopp’s progressive side are the biggest danger to City this season and I feel they will give Pep Guardiola’s side a real run for their money,” Owen told BetVictor.
“The Reds look to have improved in a number of key areas this season and the signing of Brazilian keeper Alisson could be the last piece in the jigsaw.”
