Michael Owen believes Liverpool FC are the team to beat in the Premier League title race.

The Reds have been talked up as potential title challengers this season following some shrewd transfer business ahead of the new Premier League campaign.

Liverpool FC signed AS Monaco midfielder Fabinho, RB Leipzig star Naby Keita, Stoke City playmaker Xherdan Shaqiri and AS Roma goalkeeper Alisson Becker in the summer.

The Merseyside outfit were 4-0 winners against West Ham United in their Premier League opener at Anfield thanks to goals from Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Daniel Sturridge.

Liverpool FC eased 2-0 victory over Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on Monday night after James Milner and Mane scored at the end of the first and second halves.

The Reds are in second place in the Premier League table but behind Manchester City on goal difference.

Former Manchester United striker Owen believes Liverpool FC are the team to beat in the Premier League title race.

“Whoever finishes above Liverpool in the Premier League this term will win the title,” Owen told BetVictor.

Liverpool FC finished in fourth place in the Premier League table last term to secure their continued participation in the Champions League for the second successive campaign.

The Reds haven’t won the Premier League title but finished in second place in 2002, 2009 and 2014.
