Jurgen Klopp makes Mo Salah admission after Liverpool FC win
Jurgen Klopp says that Liverpool FC star Mohamed Salah was below his best at Selhurst Park on Monday night
Jurgen Klopp believes that Liverpool FC star Mohamed Salah ‘can play much better’ after his display against Crystal Palace.
Klopp watched his team pick up their second consecutive victory of the new season at Selhurst Park on Monday, running out 2-0 winners against Roy Hodgson’s spirited Crystal Palace side.
James Milner opened the scoring on the stroke of half-time via the penalty spot, before Sadio Mane added a second deep into injury time at the end of the game.
Liverpool FC were not at their free-flowing best and Salah, in particular, had an off-night in front of goal, but they were ultimately still good value for the win at a notoriously difficult venue.
The German coach singled out Salah for criticism after the game but did also praise him for still having an influence on proceedings.
Klopp told his post-match news conference: “I have nothing to say about individual performances.
“Mo Salah can play much better, that’s 100 per cent, but he was really involved in both goals – decisively involved, so that’s two assists kind of, so I am completely fine with that and it’s all good.
“We have to play as a team. We can play as a team much better and that means immediately he is involved in that and that is all good. 2-0, all cool.”
The most important thing for Liverpool FC supporters was that their team picked up a win to keep pace with the early frontrunners this season, after Tottenham, Chelsea FC and Manchester City all won their games over the weekend.
Next up for Klopp’s side is Brighton on Saturday, who will be buoyed after their shock 3-2 win against Man United on Saturday.
