Former Liverpool FC defender Carragher lavished praise on Van Dijk after his commanding performance in a 2-0 victory over Palace at Selhurst Park on Monday night.
“Gomez was outstanding,” Carragher told Sky Sports. “Monday night and the games in the future is the reason why you spend £75m on Van Dijk.
“He wins the first header and the next cross comes in and he wins the header to lead to the goal.
“Gomez and Van Dijk were fantastic but Van Dijk got the nod.”
