Liverpool FC will pip Manchester City to the Premier League title this season, according to Chelsea FC legend Ruud Gullit.

The Reds are being talked up as potential title challengers following a significant summer of investment at Anfield.

Liverpool FC started their summer spending spree with the signing of Brazilian midfielder Fabinho in a £39m deal from Ligue 1 side AS Monaco.

Naby Keita has finally completed a switch to Liverpool FC after the Reds agreed a £48m price with Bundesliga side RB Leipzig last summer.

The Merseyside outfit won the race to sign Switzerland international Xherdan Shaqiri in a £13.5m deal following Stoke City’s relegation to the Championship.

Liverpool FC amde Alisson Becker the most expensive goalkeeper in the world after the Reds reached a £67m agreement with AS Roma to sign the Brazil number one.

The Reds finished 25 points behind the Premier League champions last season but Liverpool FC did beat Man City 5-1 over two legs in the Champions League quarter-finals.

Former Chelsea FC boss Gullit believes the Reds can win their first Premier League title under Klopp.

“If City have to battle for the league, we don’t know if they can do that. They will be up there at the top but I am backing Liverpool to win it,” Gullit told BBC Sport.

“They are contenders because of the way they play, and how they control games but they also want to entertain and they want to attack – they play the right way.”

The Reds will get their title challenge under way with a home clash against West Ham United on Sunday.
