Chris Sutton is backing Liverpool FC to finish as runners-up to Manchester City in the Premier League next season, with Manchester United coming fourth.

The Merseyside outfit are still looking to win their first trophy since Jurgen Klopp’s appointment at Anfield back in 2015 after they ended up in fourth place in the Premier League last term.

Klopp has been earning plenty of praise for the style of play he has implemented at Anfield and the Reds were in fine form as they reached the Champions League final last season.

Manchester United, meanwhile, are under pressure to win some silverware this season after they ended up in second place in the table and without a trophy last term.

Manchester City are understandably the clear favourites to win the Premier League title next season after their dominant performances in the top flight last term.

And Sutton feels that Liverpool FC are on course to finish second, with Manchester United scraping a top-four finish in Jose Mourinho’s third campaign in charge.

Speaking to the Daily Mail, Sutton said: “City will win the title with Liverpool second. It’s too close to call between the next four but Tottenham will finish third and United fourth… just.”

Liverpool FC have been busy in the summer transfer window, with the Reds having brought in Naby Keita, Fabinho, Xherdan Shaqiri and Alisson Becker so far.
