Steve Nicol believes that both Liverpool FC and Manchester United are certain of top-four finishes in the Premier League next season.

Liverpool FC managed to secure Champions League qualification for next season by finishing fourth in the top flight last term under Jurgen Klopp, while also reaching the Champions League final.

Manchester United, meanwhile, ended up in second place in the table and without a trophy in Jose Mourinho’s second season in charge at the Old Trafford club.

Liverpool FC have been busy in the summer transfer window, signing Naby Keita, Fabinho, Xherdan Shaqiri and Alisson Becker ahead of next season.

Manchester United have brought in Fred, Diogo Dalot and Lee Grant so far before the transfer window closes on 9 August.

And Nicol seems to think that Liverpool FC are likely to end up second in the table behind favourites Manchester City, with Manchester United close behind them.

Speaking to ESPN FC, Nicol said: “Man City are favourites. It is then Liverpool, Man United and Spurs. I am really confident about that.”

Liverpool FC will be hoping to be one of the main contenders for the Premier League title next season.

The Merseyside outfit are still searching for their first major trophy since Klopp’s appointment at Anfield back in October 2015.

Manchester United, meanwhile, have not win the title since 2013.
