Simon Mignolet makes admission about Liverpool FC future
Simon Mignolet hints that he is still looking to leave Liverpool FC this summer
Simon Mignolet has admitted that he still doesn’t know where his long-term future lies after Liverpool FC loaned out Loris Karius.
Karius has headed to Besiktas on a two-year loan deal after having been deemed to be surplus to requirements at Anfield by Jurgen Klopp.
The Reds moved quickly to bring in new goalkeeper this summer as they signed Alisson Becker from AS Roma following Karius’ Champions League final nightmare back in May.
Mignolet has inevitably been linked with a move away from Anfield as well this summer, with Alisson set to hold down the number one spot at the Merseyside club this season.
But despite Karius’ exit Mignolet has insisted that his priority is making sure that he gets regular game-time at the Merseyside club.
Speaking in an interview quoted by the Liverpool Echo, Mignolet said: “The transfer of Karius doesn’t change anything for me. I have always been clear: I want to play.
“Being number two or number three makes little difference. Playing minutes is the most important thing.
“Nobody has said anything to me after the departure of Loris. So I don’t know what my future at Liverpool is. We will see what happens this week.”
Liverpool FC made it three wins on the bounce in the Premier League on Saturday when they sealed a 1-0 victory over Brighton and Hove Albion at Anfield.
The Merseyside outfit are currently top of the Premier League table as they prepare for their clash against Leicester City on Saturday afternoon in the top flight.
