Jamie Carragher explains why Mo Salah is so deadly at Liverpool FC
Jamie Carragher assesses Mohamed Salah's fine form for Liverpool FC this season
Jamie Carragher believes that it is Mo Salah’s direct runs in front of goal that make him so effective for Liverpool FC.
Salah was one of the Premier League’s top performing players last season after having signed for Liverpool FC from AS Roma in the summer transfer window last year.
The Egypt international scored a staggering 44 goals in all competitions for the Reds to help Jurgen Klopp’s men finish fourth in the Premier League and reach the Champions League final.
Salah was also voted as the PFA player of the year for his fine performances for the Reds as he helped them to enjoy a relatively successful campaign under Klopp.
The 26-year-old has started this season strongly and has already notched up two goals and an assist in three Premier League appearances so far this term.
And Carragher has singled out why he thinks that Salah’s direct style of play has been so effective for the Reds so far.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Carragher said: “You can talk about stopping players but the one thing that you cannot stop a player doing is running.
“He makes great diagonal runs in that left channel between the centre-back and left-back and he’s quicker than most defenders.
“He is not wide, he is very narrow and it ensures that he is always in position to score. It is no flash in the pan.”
Salah will be expecting to start for Liverpool FC when the Reds return to Premier League action this weekend with a trip to Leicester City in the top flight on Saturday.
