Robbie Fowler: What I love about Mo Salah at Liverpool FC
Robbie Fowler explains why he is such a big fan of Mohamed Salah at Liverpool FC
Robbie Fowler has praised Mohamed Salah for his team attitude since his move to Liverpool FC from AS Roma last summer.
The Egypt international was one of European football’s top performing players last season after he moved to the Anfield club under Jurgen Klopp.
Salah netted an incredible 44 goals in all competitions to help the Merseyside outfit finish in fourth place in the Premier League table and reach the Champions League final.
The 26-year-old’s season ended in disappointment when he was forced off in the Champions League final defeat by Real Madrid with a serious shoulder injury.
He then failed to help Egypt progress past the group stage of this summer’s World Cup in Russia.
However, Fowler has explained why he is such a big fan of Salah’s unselfish attitude since his move to Anfield.
Speaking in an interview quoted by the Irish Examiner, Fowler said: “People say he had a bad World Cup but he scored two goals for a team who struggled.
“As much as he might not have been 100 per cent fit, I wouldn’t go down the road of saying he had a bad World Cup. But I think Mo is a level-headed lad.
“And as much as the season did end in disappointment — you could see the devastation on his face when he went off in the Champions League final and the pressure on him with Egypt was immense — the type of character he is, I don’t think it’s ever about him.
“Any time you hear him interviewed, it’s never ‘I’ or ‘me’ it’s ‘we’ and ‘us’.” He’s a phenomenal team player.”
Salah will be hoping to help Liverpool FC challenge for the Premier League title next season after they finished in fourth place last term.
Klopp is still aiming to guide the Reds to their first major trophy since his appointment at Anfield back in the autumn of 2015.
