Ian Wright is backing Liverpool FC to win the Premier League title.

The Reds are looking to win their first English top flight crown since Kenny Dalglish’s first spell in charge in 1989-1990.

Liverpool FC haven’t got their hands on the Premier League trophy since the competition’s inception in 1993.

The Merseyside outfit signed AS Monaco star Fabinho, RB Leipzig midfielder Naby Keita, Stoke playmaker Xherdan Shaqiri and AS Roma goalkeeper Alisson Becker in the summer transfer window.

Liverpool FC laid down a marker with a resounding 4-0 win over West Ham United at Anfield thanks to goals from Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Daniel Sturridge.

Former Arsenal striker Wright believes Liverpool FC will win the Premier League title ahead of defending champions Manchester City.

“I have tipped Liverpool to win the league,” Wright told BBC Radio 5 Live.

“I think they will give me a run for my money. I don’t think Man City will blast off like they did last season.”

Liverpool FC finished in second place behind Arsenal under Gerard Houllier in 2002.

Rafael Benitez masterminded a title challenge in 2008-09 before the Reds finished behind Manchester United.

Luis Suarez’s inspirational form left the Reds on a brink of a title challenge in 2013-14 before Brendan Rodgers’ men ended up in second spot.
