The Reds signed the Switzerland international in a cut price deal from Stoke City in the summer transfer window to add more variety to Jurgen Klopp’s attacking options.
Liverpool FC managed to see off competition from a number of clubs to sign the Swiss playmaker in a £13.5m deal to become the third arrival at the Anfield outfit.
Shaqiri struggled to produce his best form during his three seasons at Stoke and the attacking midfielder scored nine times in the 2017-18 Premier League campaign.
The 26-year-old arrives at Anfield with a wealth of experience having previously played for Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich and Serie A side Inter Milan.
Former Arsenal star Merson believes Shaqiri is a shrewd addition to the Liverpool FC squad ahead of the new Premier League season.
“They’ve made unbelievable signings,” Merson told Sky Sports.
“Xherdan Shaqiri could be one of the signings of the window, he could be worth £35m now and the season hasn’t even started.”
The Reds started their summer spending with the £39m addition of Fabinho from Ligue 1 side AS Monaco.
Liverpool FC snapped up Guinea international Naby Keita in a £48m switch from Bundesliga giants RB Leipzig.
The Merseyside outfit have also signed Brazil number one Alisson Becker in a £67m deal from Serie A giants AS Roma.
