Christian Pulisic told to reject Liverpool FC and remain at Dortmund this season
Steve Nicol believes Liverpool FC target Christian Pulisic should remain at Borussia Dortmund
Steve Nicol believes Christian Pulisic should resist the temptation to move to Liverpool FC this summer.
The United States international has been regularly linked with a switch to the Premier League since Pulisic broke through at Dortmund in the 2016-17 Bundesliga season.
Pulisic was brought to Westfalenstadion during Jurgen Klopp’s tenure in charge of Dortmund before he stood down at the end of the 2015-16 campaign.
Naturally, German head coach Klopp has been linked with a move to bring the American playmaker to Liverpool FC over the past few seasons.
Manchester United have also been touted with an interest in the Borussia Dortmund playmaker to bolster their attacking options.
Pulisic impressed with two goals and an assist in Dortmund’s 3-1 win over Liverpool FC in their pre-season meeting stateside.
Former Liverpool FC defender Nicol reckons Pulisic should remain at Dortmund for at least another 12 months.
“He needs to stay at Dortmund for this year,” Nicol told ESPN FC.
“He needs to cement himself as a starter. He won’t start at a big club right now.”
The Dortmund playmaker has netted nine times in 21 appearances for the United States national team.
Liverpool FC have signed AS Monaco midfielder Fabinho and RB Leipzig star Naby Keita this summer.
The Reds have also completed deals to sign Stoke City playmaker Xherdan Shaqiri and AS Roma goalkeeper Alisson Becker to further improve Klopp’s squad.
