Steve Nicol doesn’t believe Liverpool FC should consider a move to sign Bayern Munich defender Jerome Boateng.

Jurgen Klopp has already made significant investment in the Liverpool FC team in the 2017 summer transfer window.

The Reds have signed Brazil international Fabinho in a £39m deal from Ligue 1 side AS Monaco at the start of the summer.

Liverpool FC have also recruited RB Leipzig star Naby Keita in a £48m deal to further improve his options in the middle of the park.

The Merseyside outfit spent a world record fee on a goalkeeper after Liverpool FC signed Alisson Becker in a £67m deal from AS Monaco.

Virgil van Dijk was recruited in January in a £75m deal to bolster the defence but question marks remain over Dejan Lovren.

Asked whether the Reds should consider Baoteng to improve Klopp’s back four, former Liverpool FC defender Nicol told ESPN FC:

“I am not a huge fan. The last 12 months, he has had injury problems and form problems. So right now, no.”

The Reds lost 3-1 to Real Madrid in the Champions League final last season, while Liverpool FC finished in fourth spot.

Liverpool FC finished in fourth place in the Premier League table last season to ensure their continued participation in the Champions League.
