Nabil Fekir replies when asked about Liverpool FC transfer talk
The Lyon captain addresses talk of a move to Liverpool FC in the summer transfer window
Nabil Fekir has underlined his commitment to Lyon despite continued speculation linking the France star with a move to Liverpool FC.
The France international has been persistently touted with a big money switch to Liverpool FC since the conclusion of the Premier League campaign back in May.
The Reds were thought to have lined up a lucrative deal to sign the France international ahead of the 2018 World Cup in Russia after the Lyon captain was selected in Didier Deschamps’ squad.
Fekir, 24, was thought to be very close on a £57m move to Liverpool FC from Lyon at the start of June ahead of the World Cup as the Reds looked to improve their options in attack.
However, the France international’s deal fell through after concerns emerged about the 24-year-old’s long-standing injury problem despite Fekir selecting his shirt number and even carried out interviews with Liverpool FC’s television channel.
Speaking directly to the media about his future at Lyon and the relentless transfer speculation this summer, Fekir is quoted as saying by the Daily Mirror:
“As you can see, I’m in Lyon. I am very good here. But the transfer window is still long and everything goes very fast in football.
“We do not know what will happen in the future but I am very good at Lyon. I feel great in the group, a good group very homogeneous.
“We have very good players and there is a very good atmosphere. It’s a bit like the French team, there is a mix of old and young, more experienced players than others.
“It was important to play it. We are lucky to be able to play this magnificent competition. I hope we will do a very good course in aiming as high as possible.”
Liverpool FC have signed AS Monaco midfielder Fabinho, RB Leipzig star Naby Keita, Stoke City attacker Xherdan Shaqiri and AS Roma goalkeeper Alisson Becker.
The Reds haven’t won the Premier League title but are ranked as second favourites this season.
