Harry Kane fires warning to Liverpool FC about Tottenham title challenge
The Tottenham striker warns Liverpool FC about Spurs' title challenge this season
Harry Kane has warned Liverpool FC to put their “money where their mouth is” in the Premier League title race this season.
Spurs laid down an early marker in the Premier League this season with a resounding victory at Old Trafford on Monday night.
Tottenham eased to a resounding 3-0 victory over Manchester United courtesy of goals from Harry Kane and Lucas Moura.
Mauricio Pochettino’s side are level on points with Premier League leaders Liverpool FC following three successive victories.
The Reds are being billed as Manchester City’s biggest challengers in the Premier League title race this season.
Liverpool FC signed AS Monaco star Fabinho, RB Leipzig’s African midfielder Naby Keita, Stoke City playmaker Xherdan Shaqiri and Liverpool FC goalkeeper Alisson Becker in the summer.
Tottenham, on the other hand, didn’t make any signings in the 2018 summer transfer window despite finishing in third place in the Premier League table last term.
Speaking to the media following Tottenham’s impressive win at Old Trafford, Kane sent a warning to the north London side’s title rivals.
“People will be talking about Liverpool and those kind of teams and but they will have to put their money where their mouth is.
“We’re trying to create our own history. At Spurs, we’ve not been a club who have been at the top of the league year on year so we have to be up there and keep challenging for titles.
“For us as players we’ve got that drive and hunger to take the club to the next level.
“That’s massive to come here and win the way we did, it’s a big statement. We wanted to start the season well and got three wins out of three. It’s been a fantastic start.”
Spurs have finished in the Premier League’s top four in the past four seasons under Argentinian coach Mauricio Pochettino.
Liverpool FC ended up in fourth spot and one place behind Spurs last term.
