Harry Redknapp predicts where Man United will finish this season
The former Spurs manager Harry Redknapp believes the Red Devils won't win the Premier League title this season
Harry Redknapp doesn’t believe Manchester United will win the Premier League title this season.
The Red Devils have endured a difficult start to the new Premier League season after Jose Mourinho missed out on some key signings in the summer transfer window.
Manchester United signed Shakhtar Donetsk star Fred, FC Porto defender Diogo Dalot and Stoke City goalkeeper Lee Grant in the summer.
The 20-time English champions failed to sign a centre-half and a right winger despite their obvious weakness at the back in the opening weeks of the Premier League campaign.
Manchester United were 2-1 winners against Leicester City in their season opener at Old Trafford to make a positive start.
However, the Red Devils lost 3-2 to Brighton and Hove Albion at the Amex Stadium to heap pressure on Mourinho.
Manchester United slumped successive losses in the Premier League following a 3-0 defeat by Spurs at Old Trafford on Monday night.
Speaking to talkSPORT about Manchester United’s prospects this season, former Tottenham manager Redknapp said:
“It’s not as exciting as what we’ve grown up (with).
“I’ve managed there so many years, played there over the years.
“A few years ago you went there and you had different class players.
“The team is certainly not as exciting or free-flowing as the [Sir Alex Ferguson] teams.
“I think now, obviously they’ve been rebuilding, but it’s very difficult getting a team like that again.
“At the moment they look nowhere near the teams that Fergie had.
“They are short in certain areas. You look at them at the back, the back four is not a back four that can win a title this year.
“Obviously Jose knows that and that’s an area I thought they would have improved in. I’m sure he tried but he didn’t get anyone in in the end.”
Manchester United haven’t won the Premier League title since 2013 when Sir Alex Ferguson was still in charge.
The Red Devils secure their best finish in five seasons after Mourinho’s side finished as runners up.
