The Liverpool FC legend believes Jose Mourinho has lost the Man United dressing room
Jamie Redknapp has claimed that the Manchester United squad is no longer responding to Jose Mourinho.
The Red Devils suffered a surprise 3-2 loss to Brighton and Hove Albion in their second Premier League fixture of the new season.
Manchester United were 2-0 down halfway through the first half and went on to lose 3-1 after Romelu Lukaku’s consolation goal.
The 20-time English champions are already three points adrift of Premier League title holders Manchester City after a 6-1 win over Huddersfield Town.
Manchester United finished in second place in the Premier League table but ended the campaign without silverware after a 1-0 loss to Chelsea FC in FA Cup final back in May.
Mourinho faced criticism over Manchester United’s style of play, while his man management has attracted scrutiny after singling out Luke Shaw and Paul Pogba in the media.
The Portuguese head coach fell out with a large portion of the Chelsea FC squad in his third season in charge of the Blues before he was sacked in December 2015.
Former Liverpool FC captain Redknapp believes Mourinho is starting to lose the Manchester United dressing room.
“United’s players no longer seem to be responding to their manager. Eight of this side appeared in the World Cup quarter-finals. Many of them will be thinking, ‘Why can’t we play Pep Guardiola’s brand of football?’” Redknapp told the Daily Mail.
Manchester United haven’t won the Premier League title since 2013 when Sir Alex Ferguson was still in charge.
