Gary Neville makes honest Man United admission about Marcus Rashford
The Manchester United legend doesn't believe Marcus Rashford deserves a spot in the starting XI
Gary Neville has criticised Marcus Rashford’s disappointing performances for Manchester United so far this season.
The England international started Manchester United’s 2-1 win against Leicester City in their Premier League opener at Old Trafford at the start of the campaign.
Jose Mourinho brought on Rashford from the bench in their 3-2 loss to Brighton and Hove Albion at the Amex Stadium earlier this month.
The 21-year-old didn’t feature in Manchester United’s 3-0 loss to Tottenham Hotspur at Old Trafford on Monday night.
Rashford has struggled to hold down a regular spot in the Manchester United team under Mourinho despite some promising performances.
However, former Manchester United defender Neville is running out of patience with Rashford following the club’s poor start to the new Premier League season.
“I’ll be honest with you, Marcus Rashford hasn’t done that well in the games he’s played,” Neville told Sky Sports.
“I love Marcus Rashford, but you watch his performance against Brighton on Sunday, or in the other game, he’s not been that great.
“I can’t sit here and be objective and honestly say that any Manchester United player that Jose Mourinho’s not picked deserved to be in.”
Louis van Gaal was responsible for handing Rashford his Manchester United debut in the 2015-16 season, scoring twice in a 3-2 win over Arsenal on his first Premier League start.
Rashford finished that season with eight goals in 18 games in all competitions but Mourinho’s appointment has seen the England striker struggle to hold down a regular spot.
Manchester United will take on Burnley at Turf Moor in their next Premier League game on Sunday evening.
