Martin Keown sends Man United challenge to ‘new’ Jose Mourinho
The Arsenal legend sends a challenge to Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho
Martin Keown has challenged Jose Mourinho to turnaround Manchester United’s poor start to the new Premier League season.
The Red Devils have made a disappointing start to the Premier League season despite finishing in second place in the Premier League last term.
Manchester United were unconvincing 2-1 winners against Leicester City at the King Power Stadium in their season opener.
The 20-time English champions slumped to a 3-2 loss to Brighton and Hove Albion in their second outing to heap pressure on Mourinho.
Manchester United spiralled into a crisis following a 3-0 loss to Tottenham Hotspur at Old Trafford on Monday night.
Mourinho’s position has looked uncertain over the past few weeks amid reports linking former Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane with the Old Trafford role.
The Red Devils manager was quick to remind his critics that he won more Premier League titles than the rest of the managers in the English top flight combined.
However, former Arsenal defender Keown wants to see Mourinho prove his credentials by reversing Manchester United’s poor form.
“This is a new Mourinho,” Keown told the Daily Mail. “I want to see him prove how good he is by turning this situation around. He needs to focus on winning matches, not arguments.”
Manchester United will make the trip to winless Burnley in their next Premier League fixture at Turf Moor on Sunday afternoon.
The Red Devils signed Fred, Diogo Dalot and Lee Grant in the summer transfer window.
