Paul Pogba urged to ‘stop trying so hard’ at Man United
Martin Keown has some advice for Manchester United record signing Paul Pogba
Martin Keown has urged Paul Pogba to stop trying so hard at Manchester United.
The France international has failed to rekindle his Juventus form since his move back to Manchester United in an £89m deal.
Pogba won the Europa League and the League Cup in their first season back at Old Trafford under Jose Mourinho.
Manchester United finished in second spot in the Premier League table last term but Pogba’s form was inconsistent.
The Red Devils star has attracted criticism from his manager for his performances throughout the 2017-18 season.
Pogba enjoyed the jubilation of winning the World Cup in the summer but Manchester United have continued to toil this term.
The Manchester United record signing admitted his performance was sub par in a 3-2 loss to Brighton and Hove Albion last term.
Former Arsenal star Keown believes Pogba is trying too hard to impress at the 20-time English champions.
“I can see that Pogba is working very hard. He even came out at the weekend and criticised United’s performance after Jose Mourinho said he would not do so,” Keown told the Daily Mail.
“If anything, Pogba is guilty of trying too hard in matches to perform. You can tell from his body language that he is not happy when things work out.”
Manchester United finished in second spot in the Premier League table last term after finishing 19 points adrift of champions Manchester City.
The Red Devils lost 1-0 to Chelsea FC in the FA Cup final last term to miss out on silverware in Mourinho’s second season in charge.
