Man United open talks with 22-year-old about new contract – report
Man United want to tie Anthony Martial down to a new long-term contract at Old Trafford, say reports
Manchester United are in talks with Anthony Martial’s agent about a new deal for the striker, according to reports in the British media.
BBC Sport is reporting that the Red Devils are keen to get the 22-year-old to sign a new contract at Old Trafford, as his current deal is due to expire at the end of the season.
Martial was heavily linked with a move away from Old Trafford in the summer transfer window after his agent was quoted as saying that his client wanted to leave the Red Devils.
However, the France international has remained at Manchester United and looks set to be part of Jose Mourinho’s plans for this season.
According to the same report, Tottenham made an enquiry about signing Martial and Mourinho was open to a deal, but a transfer failed to materialise before the start of the Premier League season.
Now, the same article says that Manchester United want to get Martial to sign a new five-year deal at Old Trafford to commit his long-term future to the club.
Meanwhile, Martial will be hoping to help Manchester United return to winning ways in the Premier League when they take on Burnley away from home on Sunday.
