Anthony Martial has insisted that his family will always come first before confirming that he will report back to Manchester United this week.

The French striker left Manchester United’s pre-season tour of the United States to be with his girlfriend Melanie Da Cruz as she gave birth to the couple’s first child.

Manchester United manager Mourinho was reported to have been upset with Martial for not reporting back for duty with his club after the birth of his child.

Now, though, the striker has taken to social media to deliver an update on his situation as he confirmed that he would be reporting back to his club this week.

Martial wrote on Twitter: “Thank you all for your posts. My little Swan is fine, for the mom it was harder but thanks to God she’s better now. Sorry but my family will always come first… Back tomorrow in Manchester 💪🏾.”

Meanwhile, Manchester United will be hoping to be one of the main contenders for the Premier League title next season as they bid to try and win the trophy for the first time since Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement in 2013.

The Red Devils finished in second place in the Premier League table and without a trophy in Mourinho’s second campaign last term.

They have brought in Diogo Dalot, Fred and Lee Grant so far in the summer transfer window as they prepare for the new campaign.
