Ander Herrera has insisted that there are plenty of positives for Manchester United to take from their defeat by Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League on Monday night.

The Red Devils slumped to a 3-0 loss to the Lilywhites in front of their home fans at Old Trafford as they suffered another blow to their title hopes this season.

Manchester United had been hoping to return to winning ways after they lost to Brighton and Hove Albion before Monday’s game, but three second half goals from Spurs handed Mauricio Pochettino’s men all three points.

The result left Jose Mourinho’s men with just three points to show from their opening three Premier League games and six points off the pace in the race for the title.

However, midfielder Herrera has insisted that there is still plenty for Manchester United’s players to be upbeat about as they look to try and get their campaign back on track.

Speaking in an interview with MUTV, Herrera said: “When you lose 3-0 at home, a team like Manchester United, if you didn’t watch the game, you would think it has been a disaster, but it hasn’t been at all.

“We did a good 60 or 70 minutes and should have been winning 2-0 at half-time, but we didn’t. If we want to win the next game against Burnley this is the commitment we should have. The basics have been shown.

“This is the way we have to play if we want to win against Burnley. We have quality, a very big squad. We made six changes and for the first 70 minutes, we were good. It’s easy to turn things around.”

Manchester United will look to get back to winning ways in the Premier League when they take on Burnley away from home next weekend.

The Red Devils are aiming to try and win the Premier League for the first time since 2013 this season.
