The Red Devils have been strongly linked with a move to sign the England defender this summer as Jose Mourinho looks to try and bolster his squad ahead of next season.
Maguire’s stock has risen in recent months after his strong performances for the Three Lions at this summer’s World Cup in Russia as he helped England to reach the semi-finals.
The defender is currently enjoying the last few days of his summer holiday before reporting back to his club to begin his pre-season preparations.
Now, Sky Sports reporter Dorsett has claimed that Leicester City are keen to try and tie Maguire down to a new contract and that they are determined to keep hold of him this summer.
Speaking on the Sky Sports Transfer Talk podcast, Dorsett said: “He is on less than half of some of Leicester’s big earners, so there have been negotiations over a new deal.
“I wouldn’t be surprised if they offered a much better deal. They are adamant he is not going to go.”
Manchester United are still believed to be on the lookout for a number of new signings this summer as they bid to try and build a squad capable of winning the title next term.
The Red Devils had to settle for a trophyless campaign under Mourinho last term.
